In remembrance of a loved one, Katie had her heart set on a diamond ring.
She had always loved the look and shape of pear cuts, so I set about designing a special ring after spending a very enjoyable evening in the company of a selection of many gorgeous sourced gems. Handpicking a stunning 0.78ct GIA certified beauty, and in the knowledge that Katie wanted to wear the ‘point’ facing towards her, I designed the setting to be virtually collet-free. (As I know from experience, if taking a little ‘knock’, as of course sometimes happens within day-to-day wear, a basket setting with a corner can dig right into your skin.)
So we made the claws sweep gently under the stone to sit softly on the finger.
To showcase the ‘Excellent’ polish grade, Katie told me she would prefer as little claw visible as possible, so with this in mind, only three claws hold the diamond, delicately merging within the shoulders to create the strong, ethical platinum setting.
Of course, we added a little more twinkle in the form of 0.13cts of bead set diamonds sparkling along the shoulders, creating a classic cherished ring.
Thank you Katie for allowing me to be involved in such a special story in your life.
With love.
"In memory of my Grandma I wanted something unique and as beautiful as she was to remember her by and also pass on to my daughter. Sally created lots of stunning designs with many inspirationally creative and individual ideas, it was hard to pick just one. Sally expertly created more designs to amalgamate my favourite features and as a result I have a one off piece to cherish forever."Katie
